I reflect and reference films of 1970s Hollywood; Documentary filmmakers such as Werner Herzog, the Maysles Brothers, and Les Blank; Agnes Varda and the French New Wave; Italian Neorealism; and even some classical Hollywood cinema such as Citizen Kane, and noirs like Sunset Boulevard. I value precise blocking, using that along with cinematography, lighting, and sound design to help drive the story forward while supporting the mood and tone I am trying to establish.
